This holiday season, I hope you get a chance to wind down and truly let your brain “switch off”.
Because come January, it will be time to kick down the door of 2022, and let it know that you’re taking no prisoners.
What’s next year going to look like for you?
Is it going to be more of the same?
Netflix at night... Weekend yard work… Endless scrolling on IG admiring other people’s lives.
Telling yourself “Someday that will be me” ... Or is 2022 going to be the breakout year?
Your best one yet?
It’s your choice.
The clock is ticking for all of us.
And while we consciously “know” this, we often can’t grasp it on an emotional level. No matter how many times we hear it.
We never really grasp the gravity of it until we’re on our deathbeds or lose a loved one.
That’s why we stay stuck in bad relationships. Waste time mindlessly scrolling through news feeds. Or even just fail to REALLY go after it, every day.
We don’t realise that this moment, right now, is our life.
We think that our life will begin at some point in the future.
But the reality is that our life doesn’t start whenever we accomplish x, y, or z. Our life has already started. And for many of us, a good bit of it is already over.
The average global life expectancy from birth is 72.
But the good news is that we are the captains of our own ships. The authors of our own stories. And right now, we can choose to write a story we actually want to live.
But it all starts with getting real, looking in the mirror, and asking yourself the hard questions.
For starters, what am I willing to give up this year that doesn’t align with me reaching my goals? Who am I willing to cut out of my life. What ships am I willing to burn.
What am I willing to risk?
Because when it comes to business. “All profit is derived from risk.”
Yet, what I see a lot of the time – is that contractors aren’t willing to give things up or risk anything to get ahead.
They think they can simply sit back in the safety of their comfort zone and still ‘magically’ get ahead, but that’s not how it works. There can be no progress without struggle.
Pain = growth.
So what are you willing to change next year?
Because the person you were this year isn’t capable of reaching next year's goals.
Otherwise you would have already hit them.
You must become a different person.
And that all starts with writing some goals down that scare the shit out of you… and having a clear game plan on how you’re actually going to hit them!
