When it comes to marketing,

(Like many topics in business),

There is an abundance of information online,

And if you’re not careful,

You can find yourself wasting A LOT of time and energy,

Going down some seriously deep rabbit holes,

That often don’t pay off…

And this can be f*cking frustrating!

Because if you’re anything like me,

You don’t want to know EVERYTHING,

You just want to know what works, right?

So, let me shed some light on a strategy that we call,

Hunting.

Hunting is all about building a laser focused,

Extremely low cost, targeted marketing campaign,

To go after the top 100 dream clients in your local area directly…

To lock in a meeting, build a relationship, and secure more work!

It’s specific, targeted, direct… and it’s incredibly powerful.

And I’ll give you an example,

We’ve done this with an electrical design client of ours and won a
$660,000 job in 5 days…

We’ve used these strategies to help win million-dollar electrical
contracts with companies like CV services and QM Properties…

And to bring it back down to a smaller scale,

We’ve had clients use this for builders and property managers
to bring in an extra $11-$15k worth of ongoing consistent
work every month…

So, no matter your size in business (or trade!),

The targeted approach CAN bring results, if you go about it in the right way!

So, what is the right way?

Well let’s use the example of a property manager,

Most people cold call or simply leave a card in the holder at the office…

And talk to any property manager and they’ll happily tell you, all that gets you is a voicemail and your business card in the bin!

You CANNOT go in cold!

That is what's killing your marketing efforts!

You need to identify your targets early and start digging your well online (well before you’re thirsty)…

And what that means is you need to make yourself known prior to ‘pitching' anything,

Because that’s where the magic happens!

Follow their accounts online, comment on their stuff publicly, connect with them, share their posts…

Be the ONE contractor popping up every week…

And most importantly, over the course of 2-3 months,

Open dialogue.

Slowly have ad hoc conversations here and there so that your target begins to feel as though they already know who you are (well before ever trying to lock in a sale).

And once you’ve done that,

It's time for a ‘pattern interrupt’.

This is when you send them a physical package…

lumpy package.

With a whole bunch of material and brand personality that THEN,

Gives you a really good excuse to call,

Work your magic…

And lock in a meeting where you get a chance to toss your hat in the ring,

Happy days.

And that's really the strategy at a high-level,

And with the right assistance, marketing material, scripts, and clear points of difference,

EVERY business has the potential to win.
